ECO FRIENDLY TRIBES


Bisnois are aggresive in nature in protecting trees and animals.
They are pure vegetarian .
Their mentor Jambesherwji was a wise ecologist.He formulated Bis(Twenty) +noi(nine)= Bisnoi tenets.
Being a hindu they never cremate the dead bodies rather bury them.
Wearing blue clothes is prohibited as blue dye is made from many shrubs.
They treat black buck as sacred.There are many binois who have sacrificed thier lives for protecting trees and wild animals.
Certainly- HAT'S OFF TO THEM. We really need such people today in the time of species crisis.

Great Andamanese



They inhabit andman islands. They form largest group of tribes among other tribes on these islands. According to census now they are limited to few individuals. Jeru, Khora and Andamani, Hindi are some of the languages spoken by these tribes. They love to paint their bodies which protects them from daily insects, direct sunlight, cold temperature.Before advent of Britishers there were 10 sub groups of Great Andamanese with distinct languages and customs. Today most these groups have gone extinct.

Gonds Tribe



They are found in Gond forests of central India. Gonds have been influenced by hindus and have been practising hindu customs. They distributed in Chhindwara district of Madhya pradesh, Bastar district of chattisgarh and in Orissa.Gonds are divided into sub- groups- Madia gonds, Raj gonds Dhurve gonds, Khatulwar gonds. Rice is a staple food. Today they are at verge of extinction

Chenchus Tribe



Inhabit Nallamalai hills, which have been a part of Nagarjuna Sagar Tiger Sanctuary in Andhra pradesh. They live in Bee hive shaped tiny huts with wattle walls. They move in groups in forests in search of fruits, roots, tubers, honey. They make leaf cups and leaf plates out of tobacco, tamarind, mahua leaves. They love to smoke. They good haunters and hunt animals like deer, rabbits, wild boar, rats , birds.

Bhils Tribe


They are popularly known as bow- men of Rajasthan. They are widely distributed tribes in India. Bhils are divided into two main groups- the central bhils and eastern bhils . They belong to pre-Aryans. Bhil derived from a word villu/ billu which according to Dravidian language means Bow.

Angami Tribe



Tehy belong north eastern part of India. The total population is about 12 million. They popular for their woodcraft and artcraft. Tenidie is main language spoken. Agriculture is main occupation. They cultivate rice.

Khasi Tribe



They are mainly found in Khasi jaintia hills in Meghalaya and in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, West Bengal, And Jammu and Kashmir. They form largest population in meghalaya. They speak khasi, Austro-Asiatic language. Rice is staple food. They also eat fish, meat and drink rice beer.
